Capital Grants for Energy Efficiency Improvements

IMPORTANT UPDATE - ALL OF THE AVAILABLE FUNDING FROM OPEN ROUND 1 (£28,000) HAS BEEN AWARDED AT THE FIRST JUDGING PANEL. OPEN ROUND 2 FUNDING (A FURTHER £28,000) WILL BE OPEN TO APPLICATION FROM 13TH SEPTEMBER, WITH THE FIRST JUDGING DEADLINE 30TH NOVEMBER.

JUDGING CRITERIA UPDATE - FOR PANEL 3 APPLICATIONS (DEADLINE 30TH NOVEMBER) WEIGHTING FOR CARBON SAVINGS WILL BE 50% (FROM 60%)AND PREVIOUS ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT 20% (FROM 10%). THIS IS TO FURTHER ENCOURAGE BEST PRACTISE PROJECTS ARE APPLIED FOR.

The WSSBP is delighted to announce it has secured £86,000 to help West Sussex organisations improve the energy efficiency of their premises. Capital grants of £1,000 to £10,000 will be available to help finance energy saving projects that will achieve a quantifiable reduction in carbon dioxide emissions, such as the upgrade of lighting to energy efficiency models or the installation of renewable energy systems.

Match funding of just 25% is required. Applications will be judged by a panel looking for a well thought out project plan as well as carbon dioxide and cost savings.

Successful applicants will also receive a free Energy Audit by a qualified Energy Assessor to produce a Display Energy Certificate (DEC) for their premises, before the action is implemented as well as one year later. A DEC is accompanied by a report suggesting areas for energy efficiency improvement within the organisation. Comparison of the two DEC’s after a year will help provide measurement of the success of the project.
